TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Typhoon Kong-rey had toppled over 2,000 roadside trees and led to reports of more than 300 damaged structures as of 11 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 31), according to Taipei's Public Works Department (台北市工務局).
The department mobilized all personnel late Thursday night to collaborate with the Department of Environmental Protection (環保局) for restoration efforts.
Taipei's Department of Disaster Response Center (台北市災害防救辦公室) reported one death and 83 injuries due to the typhoon. As of Friday morning, 1,237 households remained without power.
Moreover, considering the ongoing recovery, Taipei's Department of Education (台北市教育局) announced the suspension of in-person classes at Lih Jen International Private Elementary School (私立立人國小) and Taipei Zhinan Experimental Elementary School (指南國小).
