TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Minister of Economic Affairs dismissed remors on Wednesday (Oct. 30) that NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) approached the ministry with this green energy request, and noted that international companies, including NVIDIA, have schedules for overseas expansions.
During a legislative session, Minister J.W. Kuo (郭智輝) stressed that Taiwan's green energy production will reach 55 billion kilowatt-hours by 2026, ensuring sufficient supply for NVIDIA's needs. The ministry is also discussing workforce issues related to NVIDIA's potential investment in Taiwan, he assured.
Kuo's statement came after his response a day earlier about meeting NVIDIA's demand for 10 billion kilowatt-hours of green energy, which sparked skepticism from legislators questioning the feasibility of his promise. However, Kuo stood firm, stating that Taiwan's green energy capacity is adequate and that criticisms stem from differing perspectives and understandings.
