TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) on Monday (Oct. 28) expressed his support for measures that curb ticket scalping and protect public interests. His statement comes amid a surge in scalping incidents following the sale of tickets for Jay Chou's (周杰倫) concert.

In response to the scalping issue, Kuomintang (KMT, 國民黨) Legislator Huang Chien-hao (黃健豪) proposed an amendment to the Law for the Development of the Cultural and Creative Industries (文化創意產業發展法). The amendment suggests implementing a real-name ticketing system for large cultural events held at public venues.

Mayor Chiang noted that the Legislative Yuan (立法院) also focuses on the scalping problem and plans to conduct thorough discussions and communications on related legislative amendments. The Taipei City Police Department (北市警察局) has intensified its crackdown on Jay Chou concert ticket scalpers. As of Oct. 26, the Criminal Investigation Division (刑警大隊) has arrested 62 individuals involved in scalping activities.
