TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR, 台灣高鐵) announced on Wednesday (Oct. 16) plans to increase weekend train services from Nov. 1 to Dec. 29. The decision comes in response to the high travel demand during the year-end period when large events frequently occur across the region.
Officials stated that passengers can start booking tickets for the additional services on Oct. 18 at midnight. The temporary schedule will see an increase of 27 to 33 train services each weekend, totaling 273 additional trains over nine weekends.
Passengers should note that the additional southbound service 1269 on Friday and Saturday nights, as well as the northbound service 698 on Sunday nights, will offer only 11 to 12 cars as non-reserved seating, the THSR stated.
The THSR added that these services may arrive at some stations past midnight, with the latest arrival at 12:30 a.m., requiring travelers to arrange onward transportation in advance.
Travelers can purchase tickets using the "T-EX Mobile Ticketing" app, through partnered convenience stores, online booking systems, or at station ticket windows and automated machines during business hours.
