TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) on Friday (Sept. 27) confirmed that he has invited Legislative Yuan Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) for a meeting to discuss the national budget review process.
Cho expressed hope that the budget, blocked earlier this week by a coalition of opposition parties, could move forward. Cho said, "I have extended a warm gesture and believe that I will receive a warm response from Han Kuo-yu."
He reiterated his commitment to cooperation before attending a Legislative Yuan session, emphasizing the importance of dialogue. A day earlier, Cho urged ministry heads to clarify the budget to opposition lawmakers and seek their support.
Cho further noted that after one legislative session, mutual understanding has improved, fostering confidence in interactions between new and incumbent ministry heads and lawmakers. He expressed his sincere hope for a timely meeting with Han to discuss future legislative priorities and the national budget.
Cho stressed, "I have always believed that both Speaker Han and I should step forward when the country truly needs us."
