TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A Wistron (緯創) executive expressed optimism on Wednesday (Sept. 18) about the future of artificial intelligence (AI), predicting that demand will exceed supply until at least the end of 2025.

Wistron CEO Jeff Lin (林建勳), speaking at a corporate social responsibility award ceremony, discussed the resolution of supply issues for advanced semiconductor processes, specifically CoWoS (Chip-on-Wafer; Wafer on Substrate).

He noted that Wistron's customers now have a 52-week visibility of orders. Lin added that the company is prepared to invest in expanding production capacity if customer demand warrants it.

Despite slower-than-expected growth in AI personal computers (PCs) this year, Lin expressed confidence in future prospects. He pointed out that many PCs purchased during the pandemic are due for replacement and predicted that the end of support for Windows 10 will further boost demand.

Lin also noted that as all technologies mature over time, he remains optimistic about the long-term potential of AI PCs.
