TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan People's Party (TPP, 民眾黨) announced on Wednesday (Sept. 18) that they will host seven outdoor lectures and 24 discussion forums to support their chairman Ko Wen-je (柯文哲).
Authorities detained Ko concerning the controversial Core Pacific case (京華城案), but the party claims the judicial process has mistreated him.
The TPP alleges that the investigation involved coercive tactics, fabricated charges, and a lack of transparency. They argue that if a public figure like Ko faces such treatment, ordinary citizens stand little chance against the state apparatus. The party aims to highlight these judicial issues through their events.
TPP urges all Taiwanese citizens concerned about judicial justice to stand up. They plan outdoor lectures in Kaohsiung, Tainan, Taichung, Pingtung, Kinmen, Taoyuan, and Hsinchu. Additionally, they will organize 24 forums in Keelung, Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Miaoli, Taichung, Changhua, Yunlin, and Hualien.
The party emphasizes its commitment to direct engagement with the public. It welcomes everyone to attend these events and voice their concerns.
