TAIPEI (TVBS News) — President Lai Ching-te's (賴清德) approval rating stands at 54.3%, while Premier Cho Jung-tai's (卓榮泰) is at 44.5%, according to a poll released by mnews (鏡新聞) on Wednesday (Sept. 18).
Both Lai and Cho saw a drop in approval, with Lai's rating decreasing by 1.4 percentage points and Cho's by 5 points compared to the previous survey.
Mnews analysts observed that the two Democratic Progressive Party (DPP, 民進黨) leaders failed to gain support amidst the ongoing investigation of Taiwan People's Party (TPP, 民眾黨) Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) in the controversial Core Pacific case (京華城案).
The poll also revealed dissatisfaction levels of 32.7% for Lai and 33.2% for Cho.
The survey was conducted between Sept. 14 and Sept. 16 among Taiwanese citizens aged 20 and above.
