TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taipei District Court (TPD, 台北地院) announced on Monday (Sept. 16) that Core Pacific Group (威京集團) chairman Sheen Ching-jing (沈慶京) failed to sign or stamp his bail request. The court ruled that Sheen must correct this within seven days of receiving the ruling.
Authorities detained Sheen on Aug. 30 in connection with the Core Pacific City corruption case. They first escorted him to the hospital for a medical evaluation on Sept. 5. On Sept. 13, they again transported Sheen to the hospital for treatment due to health issues, returning him to the Taipei Detention Center after his treatment.
Yueh Fang-ju (越方如), Sheen's defense attorney, promptly filed for bail on humanitarian grounds, urging a thorough investigation. She stated Sheen's ill condition, yet expressed respect for the court's decision.
The TPD planned to issue a ruling Monday night but delayed it after discovering the missing signature and stamp, as it only had the defense attorney's seal. The court specified that Sheen must correct the document within seven days for the bail request to proceed.
