TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) on Wednesday (Sept. 11) invited Taiwan's Paralympic athletes to collaborate on planning national sports policies, following their recent success in Paris.
Speaking at a banquet celebrating the team’s return, Cho praised the athletes and coaches, expressing gratitude for their efforts and noting that their achievements showcased Taiwan’s strengths on the global stage.
This call for collaboration comes just days after the Executive Yuan (行政院) held its first advisory group meeting on Monday to discuss the creation of a new sports ministry (體育暨運動發展部), where athletes were invited to share their insights. …
Cho emphasized that the new sports ministry aims to develop policies with fresh perspectives and strengthen Taiwan's sports industry through public participation.
The premier also highlighted the importance of robust industry support, stating that athletes can compete without worries, with the sports industry backing them. This initiative seeks to provide athletes with the necessary resources and support, ensuring they can focus on excelling in their respective sports.
Taiwan's Paralympics delegation, comprising 13 athletes, competed in seven sports, including athletics, badminton, table tennis, judo, taekwondo, powerlifting, and archery, winning three silver and two bronze medals.
