TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Emile M. P. Chang (張銘斌), director-general of the Department of Investment Promotion, Ministry of Economic Affairs (經濟部投資促進司司長), on Tuesday (Sept. 10) expressed optimism about ongoing green energy collaboration between Taiwan, Australia, and New Zealand. This partnership aims to help Taiwan achieve its 2050 net-zero emissions target.
Australia New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan (ANZCham Taiwan) hosted the 2024 ANZCham Business Awards, which were attended by Daniel Sloper, an official of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Robert Fergusson, an Australian representative in Taiwan; and Mark Pearson, the director of the New Zealand Commerce and Industry Office.
ANZCham highlighted that Australia has been Taiwan's vital energy partner. In recent years, collaboration in renewable energy has yielded significant results. Australian and New Zealand companies have actively expanded their green energy operations in Taiwan, assisting Taiwanese firms in exporting energy storage equipment and technology to Australia and other Asia-Pacific nations.
This year, Taiwanese companies invested in a 210 MWh energy storage project in Victoria, Australia, demonstrating their commitment to entering the Australian energy market.
Glenn Lio, CEO of ANZCham, stated that Australia, New Zealand, and Taiwan have maintained stable and mutually beneficial relationships in economic, technological, and interpersonal exchanges. He emphasized that these nations provide each other with reliable energy, food, and technology partnerships.
