TAINAN (TVBS News) — Tainan City Deputy Mayor Ye Ze-shan (葉澤山) announced Wednesday (Sept. 4) that the public bicycle system YouBike 2.0 has reached its goal of 500 stations and 5,000 bicycles, all operational by the end of August.
Ye highlighted that YouBike 2.0 surpassed 5 million uses this August, achieving its setup target six months ahead of schedule.
The deputy mayor expressed hope that YouBike 2.0 will expand to every corner of the city, reducing carbon emissions and allowing users to explore the historic capital flexibly.
The Tainan City Government stated in a press release that YouBike 2.0 stations are currently located at transportation hubs, schools, government offices, tourist attractions, and communities across the city's 34 administrative districts.
The city government plans to expand the network further, increasing station density and bicycle availability.
Tainan's Bureau of Transportation (交通局) plans to add 125 stations and 1,200 bicycles, including 400 YouBike 2.0E electric-assisted bikes, within a year. This expansion aims to reach 625 stations and 6,200 bicycles, enhancing the operational scale.
