TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taipei City Government's Department of Cultural Affairs (台北市文化局) will celebrate Taipei's 140th anniversary with a series of events titled "Taipei in Films" from Sept. 7 to 30. The public can begin to reserve free tickets online starting Monday (Aug. 26).
The event, themed "Fall in love with Taipei: Literature, love, Taipei City" (與台北談一場戀愛:文學.愛情.臺北城), will showcase classic movies at the Bopiliao Historical Block (剝皮寮歷史街區) and AMBI SPACE ONE (双融域). The first screenings will take place on Sept. 7 and 8 at the historical block.
The lineup includes adaptations of Chiung Yao's (瓊瑤) works, such as "Cloud of Romance" (我是一片雲) and "My Cape of Many Dreams" (夢的衣裳). Other classics like "Ah Fei" (油麻菜籽) and "Romance at Lung Shan Temple" (龍山寺之戀) aim to transport audiences to Taipei's past.
In November, the event will move outdoors, with screenings at Taipei Cinema Park (台北市電影主題公園) and Beitou Movie Studio (北投製片廠). The films "Storm Over the Yang-Tse River" (揚子江風雲) and "Forever Love" (阿嬤的夢中情人) will be featured.
