TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 氣象署) announced on Wednesday (Aug. 14) that two tropical systems in the Pacific, Typhoon Ampil and Typhoon Wukong, are not expected to impact Taiwan's weather. The CWA provided details of the typhoons' positions and movements early morning.

As of 2 a.m., Typhoon Ampil's center was approximately 1,800 kilometers east of Taipei, moving north-northeast, while Typhoon Wukong's center, located 2,840 kilometers east of Taipei, was moving north-northwest. The CWA noted that Typhoon Wukong is unlikely to strengthen significantly.

Over the past week, four typhoons have formed in the Pacific: Typhoon Maria, Typhoon Son-Tinh, Typhoon Ampil, and Typhoon Wukong. Currently, only Ampil and Wukong remain active in the region.

Weatherrisk Explore analyst Wu Sheng-yu (吳聖宇) emphasized that Typhoon Ampil poses a significant threat to Japan. The typhoon is expected to approach the Kanto region around Friday. Wu advised travelers heading to the area to stay vigilant.

Wu also compared Typhoon Wukong to Typhoon Son-Tinh, describing both as short-lived systems. He predicted that Wukong may eventually merge into Ampil's outer circulation.

Stay tuned for further updates as these weather systems develop and potentially impact other regions.
