TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Fubon Financial (富邦金控) Chairman Richard M. Tsai (蔡明興) announced Monday (Aug. 12) that the company will award a US$25,000 incentive bonus (around NT$810,000) to Olympic weightlifting bronze medalist Kuo Hsing-chun (郭婞淳) to support her continued competition on the global stage.
Tsai expressed that Fubon Financial has sponsored Kuo since 2015. He felt moved by her performance at the recent Olympics, where she competed despite injuries, showcasing strong determination,. It ultimately helped her in securing a bronze medal for Taiwan in the women's 59kg weightlifting category.
In the first half of this year, Fubon Financial sponsored 13 professional and amateur athletes, distributing approximately NT$13 million in total prize money. This substantial support underscores the company's commitment to nurturing sports talent in Taiwan.
Known as Taiwan's "Goddess of Weightlifting," Kuo earned bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics, gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and another bronze at the 2024 Olympics. Her achievements have made her the most decorated Olympian in Taiwan's history.
