PARIS (TVBS News) — Taiwan's men's table tennis team faced a setback in the Olympic Games on Tuesday (Aug. 6) as they lost to Japan 3-1 in the quarterfinals. Kao Cheng-jui (高承睿) expressed regret over not securing the third point, which was crucial for advancing.
The team, featuring 43-year-old veteran Chuang Chih-yuan (莊智淵), Lin Yun-ju (林昀儒), and 19-year-old newcomer Kao, showcased a blend of experience and youthful energy.
Kao, reflecting on his Olympic debut, said that participating in the Olympics itself was a significant achievement. He described his first Olympic experience as refreshing and particularly memorable during his initial singles match. He felt satisfied with his performance in the first two singles matches
Despite the team's loss, he acknowledged the invaluable support from his mentor, Chuang, saying that he is grateful for Chuang's help in life and tactical preparation.
Moving forward, Taiwan's table tennis team will likely analyze this experience to prepare for future competitions, aiming to build on their strengths and address their weaknesses
