PARIS (TVBS News) — Taiwan has secured at least six medals at the Olympics as of Monday (Aug. 5), marking its second-best performance after the Tokyo Olympics. Tang Chia-hung (唐嘉鴻) earned a bronze medal in the Men's Horizontal Bar event in artistic gymnastics.
Chen Nien-chin (陳念琴) advanced to the semifinals in the Women's 66 kg Boxing competition, ensuring at least a bronze medal. She will compete against Chinese athlete Yang Liu (楊柳), the 19th Asian Games Hangzhougold gold medalist, at Roland Garros Stadium on Wednesday (Aug. 7) at 4:50 a.m.
Meanwhile, Taiwan's table tennis Men's Team defeated Egypt in the round of 16 and will face Japan in the quarterfinals on Tuesday (Aug. 6) at 9 p.m. On the same day, the Women's Team will compete against Australia in the round of 16 at 4 p.m., with a potential quarterfinal match against China if they advance.
Yang Chun-han (楊俊瀚), known as "Taiwan's Fastest Man," finished sixth in his heat in the Men's 200m round 1 with a time of 20.83 seconds. He will participate in the repechage on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
