TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) announced Thursday (July 25) that although Typhoon Gaemi has moved out to sea, residents should remain cautious of wind and rain. Authorities expect to lift the land warning as early as Thursday evening.

Typhoon Gaemi had lingered off the coast of Hualien for nearly 10 hours on July 24 before making landfall at midnight in Yilan County's Nan'ao Township.  Within five hours, the storm left Taiwan from Taoyuan City's Xinwu District early Thursday morning and quickly moved toward Fujian.

The typhoon weakened from a severe to a moderate typhoon after hitting Taiwan, but its storm radius remains 250 kilometers. Weather experts cautioned that central and southern Taiwan to brace for the storm.
