TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei City Government Department of Information and Tourism announced Monday (July 22) that the 2024 Taipei Summer Festival (2024大稻埕夏日節) will suspend all on-site activities starting Tuesday (July 23) due to preparations for Typhoon Gaemi.
The suspension includes the distribution of discount river cruise vouchers and the setup of the Waterfront Light Corridor decorations. Officials will announce the resumption date later. Authorities also canceled the 300-second themed fireworks display and stage performances initially scheduled for Wednesday (July 24).
To align with disaster preparedness efforts, the department emphasized that all facilities, equipment, and personnel in river areas must evacuate promptly. Consequently, the festival's on-site activities will halt from Tuesday (July 23). The department added that residents could contact service providers for refunds or reschedule their river cruise vouchers.
Regarding the festival's resumption, the department stated they would assess the typhoon's impact and the venue's recovery before announcing a new date. For the latest updates, visit the 2024 Taipei Summer Festival website and the Taipei Travel Facebook page.
