TAITUNG (TVBS News) — The 2024 Taiwan International Balloon Festival's (2024臺灣國際熱氣球嘉年華) "Night Glow" light show and music concert drew over 25,000 fans to Luye Highland (鹿野高台) on Thursday (July 11). Thirteen hot air balloons, drones, and fireworks performed interactively to music, captivating the audience.

The event, which combined drones and a fireworks show, was first introduced in 2022. This year, it featured characters from the Sanrio family, including Hello Kitty, Pompompurin, Melody, Badtz-Maru, and Cinnamoroll in the drone show.

The festival began with a fiery display from the balloon team, followed by performances from Taiwan's renowned Tendrum Art Percussion Group. Also, 500 drones, acting as commanders, delighted the crowd with a performance to the tune of "Ode to Joy."

Fireworks added to the spectacle, making the combined balloon, drone, and fireworks show a highlight. The Taitung County Government noted that since the festival's official launch on July 6, many fans have visited Luye Highland with their families.

The government also reminded attendees about the two daily time slots, 5:30-7 a.m. and 5-6:30 p.m., for viewing and tethered balloon rides.

Upcoming light shows will take place at Millennium Dawn Memorial Park (Taimali), Sanxiantai (成功三仙台), and the city center's international landmark, with each event promising a unique experience.
