TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan officially joined the list of visa-exempt countries for entry into Thailand on Monday (July 15), which allows travelers to stay for up to 60 days, with an option to extend for an additional 30 days. Temporary work is permitted if travelers register at any international airport or labor office and complete their work within 15 days.
Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin of Thailand has prioritized economic growth since taking office. He noted the country's slow economic progress last year and sees the expansion of tourism through a visa-exempt policy as a pivotal part of the solution.
In late May, Thailand's Cabinet approved new visa measures, expanding the number of visa-exempt countries from 57 to 93, which includes Taiwan. However, Thailand's Minister of the Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul, and Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin did not sign the documents until July 15.
The Thai government has identified 16 types of temporary work allowed for visa-exempt travelers, including attending meetings, giving academic lectures, conducting quality control monitoring, performing machinery maintenance, and engaging in film production.
