KAOHSIUNG (TVBS News) — We&win Enterprise (聯上餐旅事業體) issued a statement on Friday (July 12), condemning Kaohsiung Bo-son Meats Co. Ltd. for endangering consumer safety.

The company's statement said it reserved the right of legal recourse and added that all products have been removed from the shelves as a precautionary measure. The statement emphasized their commitment to food safety and cooperation with health authorities.

Authorities discovered Kaohsiung Bo-son Meats Co. Ltd. (高雄柏昇冷凍食品公司) selling 11.4 tons of expired meat on Tuesday, prompting significant public health concerns.

The Department of Health, Kaohsiung City Government (高雄市衛生局), launched an investigation after receiving complaints, leading to a raid on the company.

Officials found 2.53 tons of expired pork, 7.6 tons of chicken, 0.35 tons of duck, 0.04 tons of beef, 0.67 tons of goose, and 0.21 tons of waste. Most of the meat had expired for over three years, with some goose meat dating back to 2010. The health department has referred the case to the Taiwan Ciaotou District Prosecutors Office (橋頭地檢署).

The Department of Health revealed that the expired meat had been distributed to several restaurants, including InterContinental Kaohsiung (高雄洲際酒店), We&win Hospitality (聯上大飯店), Metropolitan Living Development (MLD, 台鋁), and Yue Pin Restaurant (悅品中餐廳). All affected products have been preemptively removed from shelves.

The health department has imposed an additional fine of NT$8.4 million on Kaohsiung Bo-son Meats Co. Ltd. for their severe violations. Consumers are urged to stay informed as the investigation continues to uncover further details.
