KAOHSIUNG (TVBS News) — The highly-anticipated Paris Olympics will officially open on July 26. Taiwan's delegation, featuring 60 athletes, will compete in 16 events, showcasing the nation's talent and determination.

The Paris Olympics will run until August 11, featuring 26 men and 34 women from Taiwan, accompanied by 39 coaches. The Chinese Taipei delegation will participate in events including weightlifting, badminton, gymnastics, archery, boxing, shooting, judo, table tennis, track and field, tennis, taekwondo, swimming, golf, canoeing, fencing, and breaking.

Yang Yung-wei (楊勇緯), Taiwan's "Judo Heartthrob," will enter as the top seed in judo. Yang shared his challenges on June 20, stating, “I think the hardest part is the competitions. I have to travel to many different places for competitions and training, and I can't go home.”

Taiwan's taekwondo athlete Lo Chia-ling (羅嘉翎) is the only taekwondo athlete from Taiwan to make it to the Olympics this time. Lo, who won bronze at the Tokyo Olympics, also secured silver at the 2023 World Championships and the Hangzhou Asian Games.

Returning after recovering from an ankle fracture, Lo shared her feelings about her second Olympic journey. “Last time at the Tokyo Olympics, I had a more relaxed mindset. This time, there is definitely more pressure. In addition to training, I'm engaging in different sports for adjustment, which I find quite helpful,” shared Lo.

Lin Yun-ju (林昀儒), a table tennis player, aims to surpass his previous performance. He won bronze in mixed doubles at the Tokyo Olympics and will compete in men's singles and mixed doubles with Chen Szu-yu (陳思羽).

The Sports Administration (體育署) has committed to arranging business class flights for the athletes. Deputy Minister Chang Liao Wan-chien (張廖萬堅) expressed hopes for optimal preparation. “We all hope that everyone can travel in business class with the strongest support. I hope they can be fully prepared in the best environment,” stated Chang.

As the countdown to the Paris Olympics continues, weightlifter Kuo Hsing-chun (郭婞淳), badminton players Tai Tzu-ying (戴資穎) and Chou Tien-chen (周天成), the badminton duo Wang Chi-lin (王齊麟) and Lee Yang (李洋), and gymnast Tang Chia-hung (唐嘉鴻) and 丁華恬 (Ting Hua-tien)  are ready to shine on the international stage.
