TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Bureau (CWB) announced Thursday (July 4) that the weather will be sunny to cloudy with high temperatures and a southeast wind.
In terms of temperature, the eastern half of the region will see highs between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius, while the western half can expect temperatures around 35 to 36 degrees. The Greater Taipei Basin and the mountainous or valley areas in the central and southern parts could experience temperatures above 36 degrees.
The CWB also warned of strong ultraviolet rays around noon, advising those engaging in outdoor activities to stay hydrated and take sun protection measures.
In addition to the heat, some areas should be aware of thunderstorms. Taitung and the Hengchun Peninsula may experience sporadic rainfall. Areas south of Chiayi and mountainous regions should be on the lookout for afternoon thunderstorms, with a chance of localized heavy rain.
The CWB urged the public to be aware of severe weather phenomena such as short-delayed heavy rainfall, lightning strikes, and strong gusts. It also reminded those traveling through mountainous areas to be vigilant for loose soil, landslides, collapses, and falling rocks.
