TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Tourism Administration has been offering travel subsidies since June to revitalize tourism in Hualien following the impact of the April 3 earthquake.

Minister of Transportation and Communications Li Meng-yen announced that approximately 48,000 people have applied for these subsidies, signaling a positive response from the public to the government's initiative.

Starting June 1, the subsidies will be provided up to NT$1,000 per night per night on weekdays (Monday to Thursday) based on the actual room rate and up to NT$500 per night on weekends (Friday to Sunday).

In addition to the lodging subsidies, the government has encouraged ministries and companies to prioritize Hualien for conferences and employee development activities.

Furthermore, traffic through the Hsuehshan Tunnel to Yilan has returned to pre-earthquake levels, demonstrating a significant rebound in regional tourism. This recovery is a testament to the resilience of Hualien's tourism sector and the effectiveness of the government's measures to support it.
