TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of Culture (MOC) has issued a final reminder on Thursday (June 20) for young adults to claim their Coming-of-Age Vouchers (文化成年禮金) before the June 30 deadline.
The initiative, which began in June last year, offers 1,200 "Culture Points" to Taiwanese citizens and qualifying foreigners aged 18 to 21. To date, the program has benefited 867,000 individuals.
Claiming Culture Points
The ministry has urged eligible individuals born between Sept. 1, 2001, and Dec. 31, 2005, to claim their culture points via the Culture Points App. Those without smartphones can apply for a paper QR-code scheme through customer service.
According to the ministry's data, a small amount of culture points still needs to be claimed, with most accounts holding less than 300 points.
The MOC has offered tips for spending the remaining points. For instance, 100 points can be redeemed at museums and art galleries, while 200 points can be tripled at independent bookstores. Those with 300 points can opt for discounted cinema tickets or performing arts events.
Referral Program
The MOC added that those who have claimed their points can earn additional points by referring new users. For every two friends who use a referral code, the referrer earns 30 points. After each successful referral, an extra 10 points will be earned, with no upper limit.
