TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In a significant move to bolster Taiwan's cybersecurity and national defense, Minister of National Defense Wellington Koo (顧立雄) visited the Information, Communication and Electronic Force Command (資通電軍指揮部) on Wednesday (June 5), emphasizing the critical link between cybersecurity and national security.

Koo's visit underscores Taiwan's proactive measures in safeguarding against the increasing threats posed by the Chinese Communist Party (中共, CCP) and the evolving international situation.

During his inspection, Koo confirmed that the Ministry of National Defense (國防部, MND) has implemented a policy requiring that principal and deputy officers of all units cannot be off-duty simultaneously.

This measure ensures that the military can promptly respond to emergencies, reflecting Taiwan's commitment to maintaining a high state of readiness amid growing tensions.

Following extensive operations and experience, the MND has decided to normalize the stay-behind regulations, adhering to the emergency response protocols established in 2023.

Koo praised the dedication of military officers at all levels and encouraged the Information, Communications, and Electronic Force Command to protect Taiwan from misinformation attacks.

He highlighted the increasing importance of cyber and electronic warfare in modern conflicts, positioning the force as the first line of defense and deterrence. Their ability to quickly gather intelligence and support joint military operations is crucial for Taiwan's security strategy.

As Taiwan faces sophisticated cyber threats, the MND's focus on enhancing its cyber and electronic warfare capabilities clearly indicates its resolve to defend national sovereignty and ensure the safety of its citizens.

The ongoing efforts to strengthen military readiness and cybersecurity infrastructure are vital components of Taiwan's comprehensive defense strategy against potential aggressions.
