TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In a recent interview with TIME magazine, U.S. President Joe Biden did not rule out the possibility of deploying U.S. troops to defend Taiwan. Caucus whip Huang Kuo-chang (黃國昌) of the Taiwan People's Party (TPP, 民眾黨) expressed gratitude for this stance on Wednesday (June 5), highlighting the importance of U.S. support in the face of external military threats.

U.S. Commitment Appreciated

Huang Kuo-chang acknowledged the significance of the United States' willingness to assist Taiwan as an ally in the face of military threats. He viewed Biden's reassurance as a crucial affirmation of the U.S.'s long-standing commitment to Taiwan's democracy and security.

A Call for Wisdom and Preparedness

Moreover, Huang emphasized the importance of strategic foresight and the need to prevent conflict before it arises. He highlighted the necessity of cherishing and maintaining the vital alliance between Taiwan and the United States, urging both nations to work together in safeguarding their shared democratic values against potential aggression.
