TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (中央氣象署, CWA) announced on Wednesday (June 5) that clouds moving in from the Taiwan Strait will bring mostly cloudy skies and intermittent, localized showers across Taiwan throughout the day. With the South China rain belt moving eastward, the island is expected to see an increase in moisture, raising the likelihood of rain. Residents are advised to carry rain gear when going out.
Weather and Temperature Insights
The CWA forecasts daytime highs in northern Taiwan to range between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius, while other regions can expect temperatures from 27 to 30 degrees. Nighttime and early morning lows in the north and eastern parts of Taiwan are predicted to be around 22 to 23 degrees, with other areas experiencing slightly warmer temperatures of 24 to 26 degrees.
Air Quality and Environmental Concerns
The Ministry of Environment (環境部) has indicated that due to easterly winds, the western part of Taiwan might experience poor dispersion conditions, leading to a slight accumulation of pollutants. In the afternoon, the concentration of ozone is likely to increase due to photochemical reactions. Air quality in the Yilan and Hualien-Taitung regions is rated as "good," while the northern, central, and southern regions, along with Matsu, Kinmen, and Penghu, are considered to be at a "moderate" level.
As Taiwan braces for a day of mixed weather conditions, with potential rain and varying air quality across the island, the public is reminded to prepare for sudden weather changes and to stay informed about air quality levels in their area.
