TAIPEI (TVBS News) — National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) hosted its first International Alumni Reunion on Saturday (June 1), drawing alums from over 30 countries back to campus to share their job-seeking experiences in Taiwan.

The event underscores NTNU's commitment to internationalization. To attract international students, NTNU offers courses in semiconductor technology, scientific computing, business analysis, and ESG sustainable management and promotes a bilingual campus.

Global Alums Gather
NTNU, known as Taiwan's largest Mandarin teaching base, attracts more than 8,000 students from over 80 countries annually. President Wu Cheng-chih (吳正己) highlighted the university's efforts in internationalization, including promoting English-taught courses and a bilingual campus environment.

NTNU also invited alums working in various fields, such as human resources and law, to share their workplace experiences in Taiwan and their company's considerations when hiring foreign employees.

Career Insights and Opportunities
David Kao, an NTNU graduate and project manager at TaiwanPlus, emphasized the importance of language skills and cultural understanding for foreigners in Taiwan. Alums like Indonesian graphic designer Anastasia Cynthia Tanawi and Thai graduate He Qiongling shared that teamwork, responsibility, and a rich set of experiences and skills are crucial for employment in Taiwan.

Alumni Center executive director Kang Min-ping (康敏平) noted that the reunion event provided graduates with career guidance and expanded their career possibilities.

The NTNU encourages its international alums to stay and work in Taiwan by offering job-seeking advice and navigating them through the process of applying for a work permit within a year after graduation, as required by Taiwanese law.

This initiative by the NTNU not only strengthens its global network but also enriches the local workforce with diverse talents and perspectives.
