TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwanese entertainer Aaron Yan (炎亞綸) was sentenced to seven months in prison, which can be converted to a fine, with a three-year probation by the Shilin District Court (士林地院) on Thursday (May 30). The court found him guilty of producing, possessing, and intending to distribute sexually explicit videos of a minor.
The case emerged in June 2023 when a victim accused Yan, whose real name is Wu Bing -ru (吳秉孺), of filming and leaking private videos during their relationship when the victim was underage. The Shilin District Prosecutors Office (士林地檢署) discovered that Yan had met the victim in 2017, who was then under 18, and despite knowing their age, Yan filmed intimate videos with the minor at his residence and shared them with two individuals.
Legal Proceedings and Settlement
In March 2024, Yan and the victim reached a settlement, agreeing to a confidentiality clause that prevents disclosure of the settlement amount. Following this agreement, the Shilin District Court issued its first-instance judgment on Thursday, placing Yan under probation for three years. During this probation period, Yan is subject to protective supervision and must fulfill the terms of the mediation.
