TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In a significant legal development, actor You Sheng (宥勝), 42, was sentenced to eight months in prison on Thursday (May 23) for committing an indecent assault.
This ruling by the Taipei District Court (台北地院) comes after three women accused him of sexual harassment in June 2023, leading to a thorough investigation by prosecutors.
The Taipei District Court conducted a closed-door trial where it was revealed that You Sheng attempted to tamper with evidence and harass witnesses.
Despite these allegations, the court decided not to detain him, considering his guilty plea, and allowed bail set at NT$80,000. This decision was influenced by the actor's acknowledgment of his actions and the absence of a need for pre-trial detention.
During the court session on March 26, the victim's lawyer argued that You Sheng had tried to communicate through mutual friends between two court dates. He allegedly agreed to provide potential pre-trial information to the victim, suggesting a possibility of instigating evidence tampering.
However, You Sheng's defense claimed that his actions were an attempt to show good post-incident behavior and explore a settlement, purely for the benefit of seeking probation without any illegal intentions.
