TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A heroic act on the Taichung Metro on Tuesday (May 21) has captured the nation's attention. A 20-year-old man, surnamed Hong (洪), wielding knives, launched a random attack on passengers, causing widespread alarm. Amid the chaos, a man surnamed Hsu (許) stood out by courageously confronting the attacker, sustaining injuries but preventing further harm to others.
Heroism Amidst Chaos
During the attack, Hsu, with blood streaming down his face from a deep cut, positioned himself between the assailant and other passengers. He continued to struggle with the attacker, showcasing remarkable bravery. Hsu's mother, in an interview, expressed immense pride in her son's actions. She revealed that Hsu has always been a considerate child, taking great care of her since he was young.
A Mother's Pride
Upon receiving a call from the hospital about her son's injuries, Hsu's mother was initially unaware of the severity of the situation. It was only upon arriving at the emergency room and seeing her son's grievous facial wound that she broke down in tears. Despite the shock, she praised her son's courageous intervention, stating, "I am proud of him", and highlighted his instinct to protect others, potentially saving many from injury.
