TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Disaster Relief Foundation, under the Ministry of Health and Welfare, has raised NT$1.59 billion in response to the strong earthquake that struck Hualien on April 3. As of 8 a.m. Friday, May 3, the foundation received approximately 187,000 donations. The fundraising campaign will conclude at midnight on Friday.
The foundation reminded the public that those wishing to donate at financial institutions can do so until 3:30 p.m. Donations can still be made via ATM transfers, online banking, and at the four major convenience store chains until midnight.
The earthquake relief fundraising campaign began on April 4 and will end Friday. After the campaign concludes, the Disaster Relief Foundation will conduct a public audit within 30 days in accordance with the Public Fundraising Act. The audit will include donation information, fundraising income, and expenditure reports, which will be posted on the foundation's official website and submitted to the Ministry of Health and Welfare for record-keeping.
The foundation stated that donors who wish to receive a receipt should provide donation proof (receipt, details, etc.), the donor's name (for the receipt), phone number, and receipt mailing address via fax (02-8912-7638) or email (admin@tf4dr.org). As the foundation needs to verify the source, item, and time of the donation and assign a number for future checks, the receipt production will take some time. Donors are kindly asked to be patient.
