TAOYUAN (TVBS News) — Approximately 76,137 households in Taoyuan were affected by an emergency water shutdown on Wednesday (April 24), due to maintenance work at the Longtan water plant by the Taiwan Water Corporation (TWC).
The affected areas include 32 villages in Longtan District, 28 in Daxi District, four in Pingzhen District, nine in Bade District, and Sanmin Village in Fuxing District.
The water supply was cut off for 18 hours starting from 8 a.m. on Wednesday, the TWC stated.
Taoyuan's Department of Economic Development stated that the water shutdown was due to the "113-year high-voltage electrical equipment inspection and generator rental participation in the power trading platform line modification and testing and zoning metering pipe network monitoring equipment addition project."
The Development urged residents to store water for use and called on the water company to complete the work and restore the water supply as soon as possible to meet the water needs of the residents.
