HUALIEN (TVBS News) — Despite recent earthquakes in Hualien causing significant damage, Kuomintang (KMT) legislator Fu Kun-chi confirmed on Tuesday (April 23) that he will proceed with his planned visit to China.
Many political figures have expressed concerns that the timing is inappropriate for such a visit, given Hualien's ongoing disaster relief efforts.
Fu, however, is unwavering in his decision, arguing that the primary objective should be rehabilitating and preventing businesses from going bankrupt. He also states that the visit, set for April 25, intends to market Taiwanese agricultural products, encourage cross-strait peace, and draw in more Chinese tourists to Taiwan.
Additionally, the lagislator made a point of saying that his visit to China was official business. For example, he said it is equivalent to a legislator advocating on behalf of the Legislative Yuan for Taiwan's admittance to the World Health Assembly (WHA).
