TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Outgoing Economic Affairs Minister Wang Mei-hua praised her successor, J.W. Kuo, on Wednesday (April 17) for his international perspective and stature, expressing confidence in the new cabinet selection.

Kuo, chairman of the Topco Group, is set to take over the ministerial role. Wang lauded Kuo as a successful entrepreneur who has made many sacrifices to take on public office, and affirmed his passion and commitment to serving the nation.

Wang welcomed Kuo to the position and said she had already spoken with him. She plans to arrange a handover as soon as possible to help him quickly acclimate to the role.

The selection of the new cabinet has drawn public attention as President-elect Lai Ching-te is set to take office on May 20, 2024.

When asked about her future plans, Wang simply said, "Thank you for your concern," and expressed her pleasure at having been able to serve the public during her tenure as Economic Affairs Minister.
