TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Audrey Tang, Minister of the Ministry of Digital Affairs, condemned violence and reaffirmed her commitment to consistent policies and positions in a post on the Threads platform Thursday (March 28) night.
This follows a shooting incident at the ministry's office that day. The shooting was carried out by a 54-year-old man surnamed Chang, who expressed dissatisfaction with government policies and accused the Ministry of Digital Affairs of reckless spending. Chang was armed with both a long and short firearm, firing three shots within the office and shattering a glass door.
After being apprehended by the police, Chang revealed his motive for the crime. Authorities found five stun grenades and two short gun magazines on his person.
Tang's post on Threads, a popular social media platform, came as a reassurance of safety following the violent incident. The minister's condemnation of violence and reiteration of her commitment to her policy stance underscore the government's resolve in the face of such threats.
