NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The New Taipei City Government Transportation Department announced Tuesday (March 26) that the upgrade of YouBike 1.0 stations to 2.0 has been completed in three districts: Tamsui, Xindian, and Xizhi, and aims to complete the citywide upgrade by the end of October 2024, integrating public bicycle resources in the Taipei-Taipei-Taoyuan area.
The cumulative ridership of YouBike in New Taipei City has exceeded 210 million, and while part of the upgrade of YouBike 1.0 stations to 2.0 began with 200 stations already implemented, from April to June 2024, the upgrade will be further carried out in Banqiao, Tucheng, Zhonghe, and Yonghe districts.
The upgrade will extend to Sanchong, Xinzhuang, and Luzhou districts in July and August.
From September to October, the upgrade will be carried out in Sanxia, Yingge, Wugu, Taishan, Shulin, and Bali districts.
The department has coordinated with Taoyuan City to simultaneously complete the upgrade in areas with high cross-city borrowing rates, such as Linkou District, Taipei MRT's Huilong Station, and Taoyuan's Guishan District.
There are currently 1,299 YouBike 2.0 stations and 469 YouBike 1.0 stations in New Taipei City. Residents who need to ride across Taipei-New Taipei-Taoyuan during the upgrade period are advised to rent YouBike 2.0.
The Transportation Department will hang banners at YouBike stations on the border of Taoyuan and New Taipei City and strengthen publicity through the YouBike official website and app.
