TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense (MND) announced Thursday (March 14) that 18 aircraft from the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China crossed the Taiwan Strait's median line the previous day, intruding into Taiwan's northern, southwestern and eastern airspace.
In the 24 hours from 6 p.m. March 13 to 6 p.m. March 14, the Taiwanese military detected a total of 26 PLA aircraft and 10 PLA vessels, continuously active in the Taiwan Strait. The MND stated that it had meticulously monitored and handled the situation using its mission aircraft, ships, and coastal missile systems.
In addition, the MND also monitored a transportation rocket launch into the western Pacific on Wednesday night by the PLA from Xichang Satellite Launch Center.
The MND has expressed serious concerns over this ongoing intrusion into Taiwan's airspace by the PLA. The situation, it said, is being closely monitored and it would respond appropriately to defend its national security.
This latest intrusion marks a sustained pattern of similar incidents, prompting alerts from other nations about escalating tensions in the region.
