TAIPEI (TVBS News) — KKTIX, the ticket platform for South Korean pop star IU's concert in Taiwan, denied rumors of reserving tickets for specific individuals on Wednesday (March 6).
The rapid sale of tickets earlier that day sparked anger amongst fans, who took to social media to accuse the organizer and the ticket platform of foul play.
In the statement, KKTIX clarified that over 95% of tickets for the singer's upcoming gig, the "2024 IU H.E.R. WORLD TOUR CONCERT", were available for sale to the public.
IU is scheduled to perform on April 6 and 7 at the Taipei Arena, marking her return to Taiwan after four years. Each of her two shows instantly sold out within a minute of the ticket release at 1 p.m., with a whopping 20,000 tickets snapped up for both events.
The ticket platform set a new record, with nearly 700,000 people rushing in at the peak during the ticketing process.
KKTIX emphasized that the organizers, Kwan's International, made significant efforts to conduct the event under a real-name system to ensure consumer rights. Orders that failed to complete personal data filling or payment procedures were put back on sale at 7 p.m. the same day.
The company repeated that all the released seats were fully available for consumers to purchase online, dismissing the allegations of organizers reserving tickets as utterly false.
