TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Directorate-General of Personnel Administration Personnel Division Director Su Chun-jung declared his support for adding mental health leave days for civil servants on Wednesday (March. 6), and said he would discuss modifying leave regulations with the Ministry of Civil Service(MOCS).
Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislator Rosalia Wu proposed a "no wage deduction" condition for civil servants taking mental health leave.
According to the legislator's proposal, civil servants should still be granted one day of mental health leave each month. However, if it does not exceed three days a year, they should receive no wage deductions and should not be included in sick leave calculations.
In response, Su said he would revise leave policies with the MOCS.
He also acknowledged that the reasons cited for resignations within the MOCS were vague, and should be investigated further for clarity.
In 2018, Kuomintang's former legislator Sufin Siluko first proposed a revision to the "Public Functionary Service Act," advising a monthly mental health day to be separated from sick leaves for a total of three days a year, with other days included in sick leave calculation.
Wu agreed with Siluko's revision but insisted that there should be no reduction in pay, stating she would introduce a revision under this stance.
