The THSR Taichung outlet reported a whopping 18% increase in bento sales in 2023, selling 532,008 boxes, compared to 433,476 boxes in 2022. If Taiwan Railway Taichung Station's bento sales of 477,744 boxes are added, together, the two 'Taichung Stations' sold a total of 1,009,752 bentos in 2023.
The delectable flavor of the railway spare ribs bento is renowned. As for its secret to deliciousness, the Taiwan Railway revealed that the bento boxes feature meticulously selected domestic pork rib chops paired with a unique marinade recipe. To complement the spare ribs, premium-grade locally grown rice is used to ensure the perfect texture.
The bento shop at the THSR Taichung Station operates under the brand "TR Bento", and utilizes its corporate colour, blue, to attract customers. Across all railway stations, yearly bento sales exceed a million, establishing this inconspicuous eatery as a gustatory delight, subtly enhancing travelers' journeys.
