TAOYUAN (TVBS News) — The Taoyuan International Airport Corporation announced that it completed its southern runway maintenance ahead of schedule on Monday (March 4), at 9 p.m. allowing both airport runways to resume operations.
The expedited works were accomplished by prioritizing the main parts of the runway while maintaining the initial standards for construction quality and future flight safety, according to the company.
President and Chief Executive Officer Fan Hsiao-lun emphasized the company will continue to monitor the results following the completion of the works and will focus on inspections.
Following the completion of the south runway maintenance, the first flight to take off was EVA Air's BR18, heading from Taipei to San Francisco, while the first plane to land was Philippine Airlines' PR894 from Manila to Taipei.
