TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) approved the appointments of Y.J. Mii and Y.P. Chin as executive vice presidents and co-chief operating officers during a special board meeting on Thursday (Feb. 29).
These appointments will be effective starting March 1, the company revealed.
Mii, currently the Senior Vice President, Research and Development, and Chin, the Senior Vice President, Operations and Overseas Operations Office, will report directly to TSMC chief executive officer C.C. Wei.
Meanwhile, four other departments - human resources, finance, legal, and corporate planning - will also report to Wei. Other internal organizational units will henceforth report to Mii and Chin.
With the addition of the co-chief operating officer positions, Mii and Chin are widely expected to be the successors in the future.
Mii joined TSMC in 1994 and has served the company for over 20 years. Chin joined the company when it was established in 1987 and was promoted to Senior Vice President in 2016.
TSMC Chairman Mark Liu previously announced his retirement after this year's shareholder meeting, and it is expected that Wei will succeed him.
