NEW TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The New Taipei City Government announced on Thursday (February 29) that residents in the Sanchong District can return to their homes after damage near a construction site on Fulong Road was assessed by a professional civil engineers association.

New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih stated that a convention would be held Thursday evening to assist all affected residents in obtaining rightful compensation from the construction company in charge.

Following inspections by three professional technician organizations, the residential buildings were safe for residents to return to their homes on Thursday, he said.

As traffic restrictions were also lifted at 10 a.m., Hou thanked all units for their collaboration in prioritizing the affected residents' safety following the incident.

The underground construction for an apartment building on Fulong Road in Sanchong District had 26 households, totaling 83 people, evacuated due to water seepage from a hole in the continuous wall and leaning of nearby buildings on Tuesday afternoon.
