TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang (KMT) Chairman Eric Chu said on Tuesday (Feb. 27) that premature discussions about local elections in 2026, and even the 2028 presidential election will only lead to disputes and chaos.
In a morning visit to 228 Peace Memorial Park, Chu spoke on the potential for collaboration between the KMT and the Taiwan People's Party (TPP).
He emphasized that the KMT's primary responsibility is to reflect public sentiment and pass bills that meet people's expectations.
Chu highlighted the necessity of uniting all power, especially in the face of potential opposition from the government, and respect for the operations of the legislative caucus.
Regarding TPP representatives Vivian Huang and Huang Kuo-chang expressing an interest in running for mayor of Taipei and New Taipei in 2026, Chu said that now is not the time to discuss any subject related to 2026.
