TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Legislative Yuan Speaker Han Kuo-yu is set to convene a cross-party consultation on Thursday (Feb. 22) afternoon to discuss a food safety special report to be presented by Premier Chen Chien-jen tomorrow, among other topics.

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislative caucus Secretary-General Wu Si-yao voiced hope for the smooth progress of the food safety report on Feb. 23.

Echoing a similar sentiment was Taiwan People's Party (TPP) caucus whip Huang Kuo-chang, who reiterated his party's support for the premier's special report on food safety, expressing hope for additional parliamentary meetings without affecting the agenda.

Hung Mong-kai, caucus Secretary-General of the Kuomintang (KMT), urged parties to set aside their differences and allow the Feb. 23 parliamentary meeting to proceed with the food safety special report.

The DPP caucus, TPP caucus, and KMT caucus collectively requested the consultation, proposing that Chen be invited on Feb. 23 to present his food safety special report.

Chuang Jui-hsiung, Secretary-General of the DPP caucus, expressed optimism over the food security special report and anticipates a smooth consultation this afternoon.
