TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taipei City Egg Merchants Association announced on Friday (Feb. 16) that wholesale egg prices will drop from NT$52 to NT$49 per Taiwan catty (weight equal to 0.6 kg) from tomorrow due to an unsold stock from before the Lunar New Year.
The association noted that the egg market was closed and collection of eggs was not continued during the holiday, with no quotations given.
To reduce the pressure on egg sales, the farm-gate price has been cut by NT$3, while the farm-gate price has, in turn, fallen to NT$42.5.
With primary and secondary schools reopening today, the association said it is continuously monitoring to see if egg prices would be adjusted upwards due to demand issues. But as of now, the current pricing will stand.
