TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan is set for a fine but cooler day on Thursday (Feb. 15), with brief showers expected in the eastern regions, Hengchun Peninsula, and northern hills.
In the Matsu area, the weather will gradually transition to brief intermittent showers.
Cold weather will sweep across the north and northeast parts of Taiwan beginning Thursday night as a front passes and northeastern monsoon intensifies. Brief showers are expected in these regions as well as the east and Hengchun Peninsula.
Daytime temperatures across the island will range from 25 to 29 degrees Celsius with the south mountainous area possibly reaching 29-30 degrees.
Night temperatures in the north and northeast will drop to 13-15 degrees, with other areas hovering between 16-19 degrees.
Friday morning will see a significant temperature drop to 18-19 degrees in northern Taiwan as the front passes and the northeast monsoon strengthens. Other areas will see slight decreases of two to three degrees while nighttime temperatures remain stable.
Saturday morning temperatures will decrease because of radiative cooling, but northern Taiwan's temperature will rebound during the day with larger temperature differences possible in the west.
From Sunday to next Tuesday, the western regions will see large temperature differences between day and night, with cloudy to clear weather.
A brief shower is projected for the east and northern mountainous regions on Wednesday as a front approaches. Other areas will keep enjoying sunny weather.
